NEWS: BOKO HARAM SECT MEMBER ARRESTED AT UTAKO MARKET ABUJA AGAIN

Some days after we heard that a fleeing Boko Haram member got arrested in ikorodu, Lagos state... Another fleeing member was reportedly arrested in Abuja after the Nigerian troops has cleared and took over their stronghold which is said to be Sambisa forest.
A fleeing members of the Boko Haram sect has since been arrested by officials of a security agency recently established by the Abuja Municipal Area Council, popularly known as AMAC Marshal in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to a statement issued by AMAC Marshal Spokesman, Kingsley Madaki, Usman who is the alleged to be be a sect member was apprehended at exactly 4:30 pm at Utako market shortly after he arrived the premises.

Madaki disclosed that the suspect was apprehended “with a Qur’an and a chaplet on his neck while trying to lobby people in the market.”

The statement said he “confessed that there are many of his colleagues in the city.”

The agency has therefore, appealed to residents of Abuja Municipal Area Concil and the FCT in whole to be vigilant and to report any suspicious movement to AMAC Marshal personnel and other security agencies.

Over 1,237 Nigerians were stopped from entering Germany between January and November 2016, according to official documents cited by a German newspaper.

The Nigerians were among 19,720 migrants stopped from entering Germany during the period, the Neue Osnabruecker Zeitung (NOZ) reported, citing numbers from the German Federal Police.
Scores of Nigerians travel out of the country daily illegally seeking greener pastures in Europe, U.S. and Asia.

It has been reported how 83 Nigerians crossed illegally from Nigeria to Europe, daily, via the Mediterranean in the first nine months of 2016, according to data by the European Union shows.
The daily figure was extrapolated from the 22,500 illegal Nigerian migrants that the EU said crossed the Mediterranean Sea to Europe between January and September this year.

This figure in the first 9 months of 2016 is against the 23,000 who crossed in the whole of 2015.
Nigerians were, however, not the highest number turned back by German authorities in 2016.
Afghan asylum seekers were turned back most often, with 3,695 people affected in 2016 so far. In addition, 2,142 Syrians, and 1,794 Iraqis have been stopped from entering Germany so far this year.

Statistics for December are yet to be compiled, the newspaper said.

The 2016 number turned back by German authorities marked a more than 100 per cent increase in comparison to 2015, when 8,913 migrants were stopped from entering the country over the course of the whole year.

Despite the overall increase, the newspaper reported that the number of people turned away by police has been going down in recent months.

This is partly due to the fact that Germany’s border controls now only take place at the border to Austria, NOZ said.

Despite being part of the control-free Schengen area, Germany decided in November to extend border controls at the Germany-Austria border until February.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said that Germany had to take the step until the European Union was able to sufficiently control its external borders.

He died at age 14 on January, 18, 2016 after he was mistakenly kicked in the stomach by another player. He fell to the ground and complained of pains. The Executive Governor of Lagos state, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, has said in his speech that the government is ready to grant to those who are willing to renounce their membership of cult groups and turn a new leaf in Lagos state amnesty.

Gov. Ambode, who spoke in Ikorodu at the ongoing ‘One Lagos Fiesta,’ said his administration has perfected the plans to rehabilitate criminals, who were ready to be law-abiding, with a view to making them contribute meaningfully to the society at large.

The governor expressed concern over the spate of cult clashes, attacks and other crimes in the Ikorodu area, adding that although the government had the capacity to deal with such crimes, amnesty which is being offered would encourage many troublemakers to turn away from their old ways and embrace new lives. I believe this would make them become reasonable persons if tackled accordingly

“In the last few months, we have been having challenges of cultism in the Ikorodu area, and a lot of issues that relate to kidnapping. So, we are going to strike a deal tonight; we are going to say no to cultism and then we are going to encourage all of you. We are going to grant amnesty to anyone who is a cult member. I want to use the whole of 2017 to rehabilitate all those who have been doing bad things; we are going to provide money and we are going to provide jobs,” The Governor said.

He also stressed the importance of education and urged youths in the area to strive to be educated, and thereafter pursue their dreams.

Addressing the mammoth crowd who came out for the fiesta, Ambode urged parents to talk to their children on the need to shun all forms of violence and crime in the society.

The Boko Haram leader who is said to be Abubakar Shekau has appeared in a new video to counter Nigeria’s government claims that the group has been crushed and flushed out of its Sambisa forest stronghold.

“We are safe. We have not been flushed out of anywhere. And tactics and strategies cannot reveal our location except if Allah wills by his decree,” Shekau said in the 25-minute video, flanked by armed fighters.

“You should not be telling lies to the people,” he said, referring to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari who said on Christmas Eve that the extremist group had been defeated and driven away from the forest, its last known bastion.

“If you indeed crushed us, how can you see me like this? How many times have you killed us in your bogus death?” he asked.

It was not immediately clear where the new video was shot, but Shekau who spoke in both Hausa and Arabic said it was filmed on Christmas Day.

Shekau last appeared in a video in September where he disputed a claim by the Nigerian military that he had been wounded in battle.

He vowed to continue fighting on until an Islamic state was imposed in northern Nigeria.

“Our aim is to establish an Islamic Caliphate and we have our own Caliphate, we are not part of Nigeria.”

Buhari had earliar announced that a months-long military campaign in the 1,300 square-kilometer (500 square-mile) forest in the northeastern part of Borno state had led to the “final crushing of Boko Haram terrorists in their last enclave in Sambisa Forest”.

The government in Abuja and the military have frequently claimed victories against the Islamic State group affiliate but access to the epicentre of the conflict is strictly controlled.

That has made independent verification of official statements about victories virtually impossible.

meanwhile attacks have continued, making claims of defeating Boko Haram questionable despite undoubted progress in pushing back the group.

The Boko Haram’s insurgency has killed overt 20,000 and forced some 2.6 million others to flee their homes since 2009 when it started.

The violence has ignited a dire humanitarian crisis in the region, with thousands of children facing the risk of famine and starvation.

Lake Rice To Sell N13,000 Per Bag

Lagos State Government under the Akinwumi Ambode Administration has made it known to the public that it was ready to roll out the Lake Rice to Lagosians at N13,000 per 50 kg towards the Yuletide celebrations.

"The state government has put in place a committee that will ensure that Lagosians have the best Christmas celebration, that is why we are offering the wholesome and well packaged rice."

Mr Sanni Okanlawan, Special Adviser on Food Security to Governor Akinwumi Ambode, made the disclosure during the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) National Agriculture Stakeholders Summit.

He said that sales of the rice would be made at all the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state to ensure proper distribution.

“Lake Rice is the acronym of both Lagos and Kebbi States joint product which will be out to the public on Dec. 15 at the rate of N13,000 per 50kg bag as it is already subsidised by the government."

It was reported that an auxiliary nurse, identified as Oyekanmi, has been since
arrested by the police for her role in the death of a baby she took delivery of in the Odogunyan, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that the victim’s mother, Adeola, had been taken to Oyekanmi’s residence last Saturday when she went into labour.

Oyekanmi, while attempting to force the delivery, was said to have pulled off the baby’s hand.

She was said to have advised that the child be taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital, where the dead child was finally delivered.

Doctors at the hospital were reported to have queried the baby’s parents on what truly transpired, and they opened up. The hospital management then alerted the police to the incident.

A source told Punch that Oyekanmi was picked up by the police.

The source said, “What happened was that the auxiliary nurse tried to deliver the woman of the baby, during which there was a complication. But she continued and in the end, the hand of the baby was pulled off while she tried to force the child out from the mother’s womb.

“Afterwards, they quickly packed the woman together and brought her to the general hospital. It had become a critical case by then. The remains of the dead child were brought out, while the matter was reported to the police.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, and said:

“The doctor at the hospital discovered that something was amiss after taking a close look at the dead child and seeing that one hand had been pulled off. All the parties were invited to make statements. 

It is a case of infanticide; investigations are ongoing.”
