MAKING A GOOD DESIGNER

7 Signs You Might Make a Good Graphic Designer

Going back to school is a big decision. It’s important to weigh your options and determine if the risk is worth the reward. After all, you’re looking to establish a career, not just land another job.

You may have thought about becoming a graphic designer, but you’re just not sure if you’d be a good fit. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could look into the future and find your answer? We don’t have a crystal ball, but we do have some insight from graphic design pros that could help you make your decision.

“Too often those studying graphic design think that outstanding creativity and skill will win the day,” says artist and designer, Pablo Solomon. “Of course this is important, but success actually depends just as much on soft skills.”

With that in mind, we compiled a list of seven qualities that make a good graphic designer, according to the pros. Who knows? You may already be better equipped than you think.

You might make a good graphic designer if…

1. You’re communicative

You like people. And, even better, people like you. You’ve learned to understand what others are trying to say rather than what they tell you, and that quality makes it easy for people to connect with you. When you explain something to friends, you can tell if they aren’t following and you can change your approach to help them understand.

This ability is one that can prove valuable in a graphic design career. “You must learn to listen to what your clients want. And you must have the skill to encourage them to give you as much to go on as possible,” Solomon explains.

What’s even more helpful is the ability to deliver difficult information tactfully. Solomon says designers need to be able to give the client realistic information without appearing condescending. “It is not easy to tell a client that they cannot expect a Ferrari on a Volkswagen budget,” he says. Above all, your communication should always be respectful and professional.

2. You’re committed to your own development

Learning is a passion for you. You’ve never needed people to tell you to keep growing as a professional and as a person because it’s always been a high priority for you. You have the motivation to get off the couch and use your free time to better yourself.

“In many companies and agencies, graphic designers are ultimately accountable for their own work,” says Pablo Benites, graphic designer for TinderPoint. “As a result, feedback from colleagues is normally very generic and lacks the specific skills-based targets needed to improve.” Benites says the best graphic designers will avoid professional stagnation by proactively self-critiquing and seeking professional development.

When you are up to your eyeballs in projects, learning new techniques and keeping an eye on the future tends to end up on the back burner. But, for many designers, there will always be more on the to-do list. Developing new skills and learning in your industry is an important practice to build in.

3. You’re a master multitasker

Your life is a constant juggling act. Between family obligations, housework, a job, the occasional Thursday happy hour and catching up on your favorite shows, you’ve got a ton on your plate, but it never seems to faze you. In fact, you kind of enjoy the fast-paced lifestyle you’ve created and wouldn’t even know what to do with a day off.

Graphic designers are rarely focused on one task at a time. Rather, they often find themselves handling multiple projects all at different stages with different clients. It’s imperative that you can effectively manage several things at once.

“You are often given work with pressing deadlines and conflicting priorities,” Benites says. “It can be difficult to juggle everything at once and at the same time be creative in order to produce unique work of high quality.”

He believes accurately prioritizing tasks and seeking constant feedback on the progress of your work helps speed up turnaround times and keeps clients happy.

4. Creativity flows through you

You appreciate the unusual and unexpected sights in your day. You get tired of approaching a problem or task in the same way over and over again, so you try to come up with new ways to do things. You love mixing and matching new styles and repurposing old pieces to breathe new life into them.

Unsurprisingly, creativity is high on the list of skills a great designer must possess. But it’s more complex than you might think. The creativity you need as a graphic designer spans far beyond just matching colors and choosing typography. You’ll also be tasked with coming up with creative solutions to complex business problems, explains designer Rob Stephens.

“Can you present a client’s brand in a unique way that will stand out and avoid over-used clichés? In today’s saturated and competitive marketplace, you need to consider what makes your client’s product or service special,” Stephens explains. “Design is not about making things look pretty. A graphic designer is often judged on the strength of their creative solutions.”

5. You’re constantly curious

You enjoy reading books, not because you have to, but because you want to. On any given night, you can be found scouring Pinterest for the newest innovations. New trends and technologies pique your interest and you enjoy pushing your limits.

“Above all, a designer must be curious,” says Kristen Friend, Art Director for Custom Legal Marketing. Trends and tools are always in flux. If a designer stays stagnant and doesn’t evolve with the industry, they risk becoming obsolete.

“Curiosity makes you a good listener who is able to work in any group environment,” Friend says. “It drives a willingness to continually learn and take risks, while also being flexible.”

6. You’re always punctual

If you have dinner plans at 7:00, you’re there at 6:45. You wouldn’t dare show up late to a meeting or event and you’re never late paying your bills. Part of maintaining your busy schedule means keeping an organized calendar and managing your time wisely.

The world of graphic design is driven by harsh deadlines. If you can’t keep up in a fast-paced environment, you may find yourself losing work, losing clients and, worst of all, losing paychecks. Successful graphic designers need to thrive when working under pressure.

“Meeting deadlines is critical to the success of a graphic designer and obtaining the trust of your future clients,” Stephens says. “You must commit to deadlines and should there be a reason the deadline won’t be met, then you must notify the client as soon as possible.” He goes on to explain that clients are often understanding of delays if communication is prompt (especially if the hold-up isn’t your fault).

7. You’ve got thick skin

You’re a resilient person, so it takes a lot to hurt your feelings. Life has thrown its share of obstacles your way but you’ve always picked yourself up, dusted yourself off and kept moving forward. You’re independent and self-reliant.

The graphic design industry can be cut-throat, so it’s important to have thick skin. If a client gives you negative feedback about a design you’ve poured your heart into, you can’t take it personally. Successful designers don’t dwell on a single project—they move on and focus on the next one.

“Resilience is as much of a part of your life as a designer as it is when you are just starting out,” says Robyn Strafford, UX & Web Designer at Bowler Hat. Strafford says graphic designers can expect to experience criticism on every project and just have to take it in stride and work to produce a satisfying outcome. “Having the resilience to continue trying is the most important skill a designer must have,” she adds.

ELECTION "19: ATIKU STILL SHOWS RESENTMENT, KNOCKS APC OVER INTERNAL DEMOCRACY

ELECTION "19:

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties of building democracy on a substructure of dictatorship and intolerance.

Atiku who was vice president on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but presently a leader in APC, appears to always be on a different page with his party, warranting speculations he may soon dump the party to further his widely believed political aspiration of becoming president.

Only recently, his Adamawa State chapter of the PDP, vowed it will never rest from wooing the former presidential aspirant and candidate, who it said is being underutilized by APC, from returning to his former party.

According to Atiku, there is a total lack of internal democracy among the nation’s political parties especially the APC and PDP.

He lamented a situation where the ruling APC, PDP, and other political parties in the nation have over the years refused to hold meetings of their important organs as well as those meant for the selection of the leadership of the parties.

Atiku made these observations when he spoke at the 2nd annual conference of the Inter – party Advisory Council, with the theme, “Inter Party Democracy: A Recipe for Sustainable Democracy in
Nigeria”, in Abuja on Tuesday.

“In my view, there is a close relationship between democracy within political parties and democracy within the nation. Put simply, you cannot give what you don’t have. You cannot build democracy on a substructure of dictatorship and intolerance. A political party that constricts the freedom of its members cannot really offer freedom to the citizens of the nation. Democracy is not just an idea; it is a cultural practice.

“For a number of years now, we have had political parties, even governing ones, which hardly hold meetings of their important organs, including those meant for the democratic selection of their leadership, or even constitute institutions prescribed in their constitution.

“In the absence of those meetings and elections, their existing leadership, often under the direction of the executive at the state or federal level, fills the void. That’s not party building but party bullying. And it’s certainly not a way to democratise parties and aggregate their members’ opinions, interests and aspirations.

“This means that efforts to deepen Nigeria’s democracy must include efforts at democratising our political parties. The institutionalisation of democracy in our internal party processes will help us deepen democracy in Nigeria. Leaders are more likely to tolerate opposition from citizens and other parties if they tolerate it within their own party,” Atiku said.

The former vice president further blamed the absence of internal democracy in political parties for being responsible for clashes between parties and their elected representatives as well as the legislature and the executive.

3 Big Mistakes People Made Starting Their Online Business

Setting out by yourself to start a business can be an exciting and also scary time. Whatever your reason for needing to go solo and make it on your own, what follows is usually a messy experiment of failures and successes than eventually (hopefully) becomes a business you can be proud of, or the makings of an entrepreneur who’s not afraid to give anything a go.

It can be even scarier when most of what you do is online for everyone to see (or not, as is the case with my third business mistake below). The sheer volume of opportunities we have to access clients, suppliers, collaborators and solutions online is unprecedented, to the extent that even a stay at home mum can start a business in her pyjamas and eventually offer her husband a job.

It can be easy to think online business is easier, but it still needs you to focus on all the hallmarks required of any traditional business. Here’s where they fell down, so you can hopefully avoid the same pitfalls.

1. Not Keeping My Finances in Check

My ‘business’ started out fairly slowly with revenue trickling in from here and there. I did have the foresight to set up as a Sole Trader (a simple Australian business structure), but I didn’t set up a separate bank account because as a sole trader I would be taxed at the same rate as an individual. So all my revenue earned went into my personal account and was spent as personal income.

The big mistake was not considering the implication of no longer having income tax withheld from my earnings. When you’re employed, your employer does that for you and passes the tax onto the government. When you’re a sole trader, you need to do that yourself, preferably on a regular basis ie each quarter. I learned the hard way, getting landed with an $11,000 tax bill at the end of my first financial year.

To make things even more difficult, I wasn’t really keeping effective financial records, so submitting my tax return was painful and eventually resulted in many tears and a visit to an accountant. My accountant set me on the right track, helped me get set up with an accounting system, a business bank account, and the correct business structure. They also empowered me to learn how to manage and understand my own accounts and tax obligations. You may want to delegate these to a bookkeeper and/or your accountant, but I thoroughly recommend learning to understand how your finances work in your own business first.

2. Working with the Wrong People
I think this is a pretty common mistake. When we first start out we eagerly take business that comes our way, usually for the wrong reasons – they’re a friend, they were referred by a friend, we need the money, we tell ourselves we need the experience – even if they’re not quite the right fit.

I’ve taken on clients and then realised I should have done more homework. I would have recognised that I couldn’t actually help them. I’ve worked with clients who have said they want one thing and then after it was delivered, moved the goalposts – like to another playing field!

It’s the same with people who you contract or sub-contract to – your judgement can be easily clouded, but when it really matters, the mismatch in expectations or skill will become painfully clear.

The best ways to avoid these mistakes is to:

  •  have a very clear expectation of what you want in a client and/or contractor.
  • do your homework and make sure they actually fit the brief. Ask for examples of work from a potential contractor, or at least do a trial run.
  • ensure expectations are clearly understood – do they understand what you’ll be doing for them and what they’ll be doing for you?
  • be super vigilant with the above if considering working with friends or family.

3. Lacking Self Confidence
Deciding to jump the fence from being an influencer to working with influencers was a big step for me. There was some definite imposter syndrome going on, and as such I ended up spending too much time worrying about branding and business cards (which is important to help you stand out) and not enough time creating content and promoting myself. I felt like I had to hide behind some pretty fancy business cards that cost me $900 (wow, that hurts to admit that!) and remembered crying when my toddler destroyed $30 worth of business cards in the blink of an eye!

I have always identified as the experimenter, not the expert. I’m a terrible self-promoter and I worry about what people would think if I ever wrote an opinion piece, hence why finding blog posts authored by yours truly is like searching for hens teeth. Not the best strategy if you want to be found online!

Last week Darren introduced you to Robert Gerrish of Flying Solo in a podcast interview about how to overcome the challenges of being a solo entrepreneur. I’ve been going through his Soloism course and came across this very frank observation:

Being a soloist demands that you are prepared to stand up, stand out and get noticed. It also demands that you stand for something, have opinions and can talk powerfully and passionately about what you do, who for, why and how. This is stepping into the expert’s space – standing under the spotlight.
Are you ready to stand under that spotlight? I wish I had realised that positioning yourself as an expert is not about he or she who shouts loudest. Any confidence (even the quiet kind) can help you create content and opportunities that will allow the right people to find you and work with you. It’s something I’m still learning to do so that I can continue to grow into the entrepreneur who’s not afraid to give anything a go.

In Conclusion: Soloism ‘Work Your Way’
Solosim would have helped me to avoid most of my business mistakes, except maybe the tax one – there’s no specific advice on that, and is best pursued with your relevant local authorities. When you go it alone you don’t have to be truly alone – there are great communities like ours and Flying Solo to draw from, and the Solosim ‘Work your way course’ can help you at whatever stage you’re in with your solo business.

With over 80 videos and supported by exercises, worksheets and online discussion, Work your way is the most comprehensive course of its kind anywhere. The modules help you to attract more dream clients. Fire clients. Find a mentor. Coach yourself. Work faster. Work slower. Work healthily. Charge more. Smile more. Expand. Contract. Buhari Greets Adeshina And Family From Abroad

NEWS: Buhari Greets Adeshina's Family-Say Greet your family

Mr. Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, says he has spoken to the number one citizen in London.
Adesina who had always maintained that Buhari is ‘hale and hearty’ had always told Nigerians that though he has not spoken to the president, he speaks with those around him in London.
Adesina took to his twitter handle on Saturday saying, “Spoke with PMB a short while ago. Glad to hear his voice. Told me he was resting, but no cause for worry. Said I should greet my family”.
According to him, the president thanked him for holding out against mischief makers.

“Thanks for holding out against mischief makers, PMB tells me during a phone call today. Said he would call again soon. Gave him best wishes”, he tweeted.
He however did not say if the president sent any message to Nigerians.
Adesina is the latest person to say he has spoken to the president ever since Buhari left the country on January 19 for a medical vacation in London, United Kingdom.
A few individuals, with the last being the Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje claim to have spoken with the president who reportedly told them he is doing fine and only needs to rest.
More recent reports also claim that he spoke with the governor of his home state, Katsina, Bello Masari.
Buhari had initially informed the Senate that he was taking a ten day vacation, handed over power to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who has been in acting capacity since then.
Buhari however, at the expiration of the ten days sent another letter to the Senate that he is taking more days to attend to his health, as he awaits results of medical tests conducted.“Thanks for holding out against mischief makers, PMB tells me during a phone call today. 5 TOOLS YOU SHOULD USE AS A PUBLISHER IN THE INDUSRTY

Like any other professionals, if you are without your tools, you can't get to work, such as afarmer without his hole and cutlasses would not cultivate or even harvest bountifully. The same applies to anyone with a job, business, or even a hobby and even the simple daily task of everyday life -
its important for you to know that you need your tools.
As an author, you, too, need your tools in your author toolbox, and I am going to share five main tools that, in my opinion, are helpful to a newbie as well as an established writer.

1. Wordpress -

This is a platform that is used for blogging and for building websites. It is truly user friendly to a newbie and if you are a non-techie, you would love using this. Wordpress.com is free to use and you can have it set up within minutes. For those of you who are just starting to write and who are a bit unsure of whether your material, thoughts, and ideas are worth sharing or would capture an audience, I would strongly suggest starting with this blogging platform and sharing your work. You may just garner comments, likes, and the confidence over time to believe that you do have something that is worth writing about that an audience would be interested in reading and buying.

ONLINE COMMUNITIES

2. Social Media -

Nothing happens these days without social media. If you want to know what's trending, check out Twitter and Facebook. If you want to join a professional community and interact, join Linkedin and Google Plus. For authors, a place like Goodreads is a great place to start. There are lots of book communities where authors hang out and share, and, by the way, it's also a good place to get reviews - if you are looking for some.

I found this really cool blog that shares a gallery of 10 social networks for writers. Check it out here: http://mashable.com/

2012/01/23/social-networks-writers/#W1AXf0410gqi . And, hey, don't only feel compelled to use the traditional, though popular social media sites. Go over to YouTube and talk about your books on video; have book study groups if you are an established author; or just choose your favourite book and create a discussion. Now, you also have Facebook live. Make use of it!

INCREASING SALES

3. Publishing Sites -

Online platforms such as Amazon, Create Space, and Lulu.com are the three main places I would highly recommend to publish your books. You are free to check out others, but I encourage you to read through the terms and conditions and features of the site. Amazon has been really stepping up its game in helping authors get their work noticed, and I am sure most of you are not aware or keeping up with this to increase your sales, especially since Amazon is offering all this to you for free!

Take advantage of authorcentral; KDP; promote events; do a buy one, get one at a discounted price offer and pre orders of books, and much more!

4. Book Launches -

Don't only attend your own book launch. Go to others - whether friend or foe. Learn from it and apply for your next book launch or event. The thing is, if you support someone, you will get support. Don't be selfish. Open yourself to supporting a fellow author, and that person, or maybe another, will most likely be helpful to you when you really need it.

5. Opt ins -

I always recommend this as it is the one sure-fire way to build subscribers and followers to your site, blogs, and work and allow for generation of income. Use this tool to build relationships with your audience and you can be set for a long time. Give them value and keep them interested with great content, offers, and giveaways, and at the right time, you can approach them with offers for sale. With this few, they would be at least enough to support you. Not all would, but some will, and that's a start.
Happy Blogging

JOHN MIKEL SETS TO JOIN HIS CHINESE NEW CLUB IN A SUPER DEAL

John Mikel Obi, Nigeria's National Football Player

SUPER Eagles athlete in person of John Mikel Obi looks ready to  join the Chinese Super League joining Tianjin Teda from Chelsea on a free transfer in a £140,000 ($173,432) deal  after arriving in the city and undergoing a medical.

Since the start of the current campaign, Mikel has not featured at all for Chelsea and Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr, has attributed it to his skipper shunning club boss Antonio Conte’s pleas to feature for Nigeria in the Olympic Games last summer. His lack of action has attracted the interested of several European clubs, with Marseille said to be the most keen to acquire Mikel.

Over recent weeks, it appeared that Valencia has signed Mikel after he agreed a four year deal with the club. Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho also signified an interest in signing the player he originally brought to Chelsea.

Keen to attract Mikel to boost the image of their league, Chinese clubside Shanghai Sipg had presented a $212,000 a week deal before Mikel’s agent. However, it appears that the midfielder will now sign for Tianjin Teda.

Mikel, who has failed to make a single appearance for Antonio Conte’s side this season, had a medical in the port city some 130km from Beijing yesterday and the Asian Football Confederation has confirmed the deal. After joining Chelsea in 2006, Mikel, 29, was part of a squad that won a Champions League crown, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups.

Chinese clubs have made several high-profile signings over the last month with Argentine striker Carlos Tevez moving to Shanghai Shenhua for a reported €84m ($87.65m). Less than a week later, Brazilian midfielder Oscar joined local rivals Shanghai SIPG from Chelsea in a deal believed to be worth €60m.

At the end of December, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent said the player had turned down the chance to leave Real Madrid for an unnamed Chinese club for a transfer fee of €300m ($315.24m). Mikel joins Serbian midfielder Nemanja Gudelj, who moved to Tianjin from Dutch club Ajax yesterday.

HUNTER ARRESTED FOR KILLING WIFE AND MOTHER IN-LAW WITH PASTOR

NEWS:  Benue- Hunter Shoots Three Wife Included

Identified Killer. Source:nigerianwatch

Bush Hunter identified as Jerome Adoko has since been arrested by the police for shooting three people including his wife and mother-in-law along with their local pastor after an altercation over a plot of land turned nasty in Benue State.

Mr Adoko from Iwewe-Ichama community in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state has been arrested by the police for  shooting his wife, Regina, his mother-in-law, Esther Edoga and the clergyman Eze Udoh. Apparently, the pastor died from the injuries he sustained from the gunshot wounds, while the two other victims are still undergoing treatment in hospital.

It is believed that the suspect and his wife had been at loggerheads over the ownership of a parcel of land in the community, while efforts by their relatives to settle the dispute had hit a brick wall. Mr Adoko was said to have claimed that he owned the land while the wife insisted that they jointly raised funds to buy it.

Apparently, both parties had maintained an uneasy silence until last Thursday when Jerome accused his wife of cutting up and cooking an animal he hunted in the bush without his permission. One relative said Jerome cashed in on the Thursday’s altercation to attack his wife over the land, adding that the pastor wanted to make peace when he was hit by stray bullets.

He added: “Jerome and his wife have an issue over a parcel of land and families of both parties have been trying to sort it out. But he insisted that the land belonged to him and that day, he said his wife cut up and cooked an animal without seeking his consent.

“He confronted the wife, which led to exchange of words between them. The mother-in-law, who was on a visit to their house, tried to calm them down but to no avail, so he went into his room and brought out a gun he used for hunting.”

According to the relative the mother-in-law raised the alarm and the pastor and other neighbors came out to stop him. He added that the hunter wanted to shoot his wife but the pastor and the mother-in-law were also hit.

SHOKING! PRESIDENT BUHARI DIES

NEWS ALERT: THE RUMOR ABOUT PRESIDENT BUHARI OF NIGERIA

Is this really true Nigerians, Read this and know if yes or not, there is an uproar definitely,
Only God Knows where, A while ago there was a rumor that President Buhari of Nigeria died in the UK but many dismissed it as a mere rumor.

People of Nigeria, get ready for the worst because it is not a rumor but a reality.

Buhari was rushed out of Nigeria in the middle of the night two days before his official leave, and was flown in an air ambulance to the UK for a major surgery. The surgery required that he undergo an organ transplant but his body rejected the new organ due to his age. Though not dead but he is in a vegetable state right now the doctors actually asked him to officially resign because they were not too sure of the success of the surgery but he refused and they went ahead with it. Sadly, Buhari did not survive the surgery and the outcome is being kept a top secret/Fellow Nigerians, you are being deceived right now because there is a high powered meeting being carried out by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and the Northern governors and they are planning now to remove the Vice President;

As we speak, Chief Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan are not part of this plot and that is where there will be trouble. There is a serious clash about to happen in Nigeria and it will be very bad. God has revealed this to me long before Gen. Buhari got into power that he was going to die during his reign.

Something is about to happen in Nigeria and please you people should not take this warning lightly. start buying food in the house because it will not be funny. Mysteriously too, I do not see the Vice president taking over power because there are strong forces against him already.

PLEASE BE WARNED

National Alert:

Trump To Attend Oil Roadshow Nigeria

Donald Trump, President Elect The United States
NEWS: Trump Attends Oil Roadshow

Gathered by Prince Okafor that the President-elect of the United States Mr. Donald Trump will attend a roadshow being arranged by Nigeria to attract investment to the oil and gas sector.

Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources said in a speech on Tuesday in Abuja when he unveiled the goals of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources for 2017. “We are going to be seeking to attract investments and complete all the memorandum of understandings we have in China and India.

“We are looking to do a roadshow to the UK, we are looking to do a road show to the US with President Donald Trump coming in,’’ he said.
The Minister said Nigeria would exploit the relationship built by President Muhammadu Buhari in taking a road show to the UK and US. Kachikwu equally pledged the readiness of the Federal Government to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) and allocate oil blocks in 2017. “We are going to accelerate Federal Government’s revenues, look into areas where we could have made more money, so as to support the 2017 budget financing. “We are looking to draw on the relationship that the president has built over time. We are going to be conducting oil blocks allocations and marginal flow awards to try and raise money for the government,” The Minister, Kachikwu said.

He assured that Nigeria’s refineries would be revamped to produce at 60 per cent capacity. “We need to start the revamping of the refineries. The president has given us marching orders on that. We still remain committed on our goal of 2018 to reduce importation by 60 per cent and 2019, stop the importation of petroleum products substantially. “Now we are going to continue to focus on downstream issues. Although we have liberalised, there are still some challenges. We are going to see how we work within the liberalisation infrastructure such that we are able to take away the low-hanging difficulties. In a bid to substantially ensure a smooth transformation in the oil industry in 2017, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has said that the oil and gas sector will be run with a rocket pace. The minister in his twitter handle, entitled the Nigeria Petroleum Sector 2017 Outlook, said that in 2017, activities will be sped up to achieve set goals. “We are going to run at a rocket pace.

We have so much to do. First we are going to firm up our policies, be able to gazette all our oil and gas policies and then pass the Petroleum Industrial Bill, PIB.” He also said that the difficulties of 2016 served as a pointer to where the country is headed, adding, “Do not despair, do not lose hope, do not be frightened, do not wonder, rather be energized. “We are going to accelerate Federal Government revenues, look into areas where we could have made more money, (as the Federal Government has been losing low hanging fruits), so as to support the 2017 financing. “We are going to be singing to attract investments and complete all the memorandum of Understandings MoUs, both the one in China, and that of India”.

He also pointed out that there will be a road show in the United Kingdom, as well as the United States, with President Donald Trump coming in. On gas revolution, the minister said that, “Gas revolution will be key. First, we are going to track gas flare and commercialise it so that no more flare happen in this country. We have set a 2020 date for ourselves even though the international fora at the United Nation had set a 2030 date. We are very aggressive about this, we want to make money from flare,” he said. Mr. Kachikwu also promised that the government will look at the gas infrastructure that are suffering, complete the investment and get gas in every part of the country because it is key to power delivery. The minister said the nation has four times volume of gas than oil, adding that even though oil has contributed immensely to the nation’s growth, gas is the future.

He explained that gas will provide power, clean energy, and day-to-day burning of fuel at homes. “For so long we have pretended to be an oil producing nation and yes we were; but Nigeria really is a gas nation with a lot of substantial gift of oil.” Speaking on the state of refineries, Kachikwu said, “We need to start the revamping of the refineries. The president has giving us a matching order on that. We still remain committed on our goal of 2018, reduce importation by 60 per cent and 2019 try and exit the importation of petroleum products substantially. “Now, are going to continue to focus on downstream issues, although we have liberalised, there are still some challenges. We are going to see how we work within the liberalisation infrastructure such that we are able to take away the low hanging difficulties. “We are also going to focus on the Niger delta. It’s been too long a lingering issue. We are going to be working with every aspect of the presidency to try and find solution to this.” The minister concluded.

Fayose - GMB 2019 Ambitions, To Destroy And Not Repair!

NEWS: "Negative Public Outcry Over Pastor Adeboye’s Resignation Made Buhari Sack FRC Boss". Says Ayo Fayose

Ayo Fayose

It was gathered that The state governor of Ekiti in person of Mr Ayodele Fayose has marked out and explained the sack of the Executive Secretary of the Financial Regulatory Council (FRC) of Nigeria, in person of Mr. Jim Obazee, in connection with the implementation of the ongoing controversial Corporate Governance Code 2016 as an afterthought and cover-up to stem the tide of negative public reactions to the implementation of the controversial law that stripped the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye and others of their positions. In a release issued in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday and signed by the governor’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka.
In his speech; “When they realised the implication of their action on President Mohammadu Buhari’s 2019 ambition, especially the personality like Pastor Adeboye that’s involved, they quickly sacked an innocent man who must have acted on instruction". Fayose said.
“Obviously, their attention is more on 2019, not on justice and any love for the sustenance of Christianity in Nigeria. Mind you, they have only suspended the implementation of the regulation, they did not abrogate it. It is obvious that they have an agenda. And if you look at the president’s pattern of life, he is a sectional leader, whose appointments reflect sectionalism and nepotism.” He added.

He said it was funny that a president that is over 70 years will be the one to implement a regulation limiting the age of General Overseer (GO) of Churches to 70 years, asking; “If men of God like Pastor Adeboye, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop Mike Okonjoz and others cannot be GO of their church beyond 70 years of age, how do we now justify a man like President Buhari who is over 74 and still willing to be president beyond 2019 that he will be 77?”
Governor Fayose, who described those defending President Mohammadu Buhari by claiming that the law was made when Dr Goodluck Jonathan was president as hypocrites, asked; “Even if the law was made before President Buhari assumed office, who is to blame for its implementation? Could President Buhari have implemented a law he does not believe in and could the sacked FRC boss that they have now used as the fall-guy have implemented the law without the consent of the President?”
He questioned the speed at which the President reacted by sacking the FRC boss, asking; “Why was there no such swiftness in his action on Southern Kaduna killings where a race was almost wiped out, with people killed like goats? Why didn’t the President react swiftly to the Senate indictment of the EFCC Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu? “Obviously, it was an afterthought, which was aimed at dousing the negative outcry that greeted the action by using the sacked FRC boss as the fall-guy “This has further made it very clear and evident that Buhari is not a leader, he is ruler. He is a religious apologist that believes that he must silence anybody that does not believe in his line of thought either politically or religious wise. “Sadly, all those things that we have forgotten and never thought will happen again in this country are now happening. The country is now badly divided more than ever before.
“Nigerians have been able to read through President Buhari in this short time to realise that all he is doing now is to destroy this country like he did in 1984, but God will not allow him". The Governor concluded.
