lo>>ba>>tan Police Uncover Human Parts ‘Depot’ In Ilorin

Abandoned buildings along Lagos‑Ilorin expressway near the Ilorin International Airport, suspected to be hideout for criminals dealing in human parts and other nefarious criminal activities have been discovered by men of the Kwara State command.

The policemen discovered several items in the six buildings of about 18 flats, said to be owned by an 85-year‑old socialite, including decomposed human parts, a decomposing headless body, decomposed human feet, snail shells, piece of cloth suspected to be used in strangulating victims, under-wears, NYSC caps, shoes, eye glasses, hand set cover, sandals, among other personal belongings, were found in the abandoned buildings.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ambrose Aisabor, said this during a press conference yesterday at the Police Headquarters, Ilorin.
According to Aisabor, the command’s special undercover agents, with information from members of the public, discovered the criminal hideout on Saturday.
“We have made another breakthrough in our efforts to ensure that we chase out criminals from this state and ensure that residents live in peace,” he said.
He added that the identified buildings have inscription of “For Sale” written all over them. “They are located near NASFAT praying ground, with a road separating the fenced buildings and the praying ground.”
The police boss, who said no arrest has been made so far, added that the aged socialite, who allegedly owns the place and suspected to be a native of Oro town in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state, was being interrogated.
The Kwara State Police Commissioner, who also paraded one Ganiyu Lawal, suspected to be a robber, said the suspect removed a Toyota Camry, with number plate Lagos APP 645 AN, from where it was parked in Ikorodu, Lagos. [Vanguard]

Gas Explosion Claims 15 Lives In India

Not less than 15 people reportedly lost their lives on Friday in an explosion that occurred at Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), the country’s largest state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company located at the East Godavari district.  

Vandana Chanana, a top official at the energy company said 14 other people were injured in the incident. He said Doctors revealed that five of the injured persons were in critical condition.
According to abcnews, the fire which destroyed several homes resulted to the evacuation of neighboring villages. It said the flames of the fire rose up to 80 feet into the air.
According to a witnesses, residents ran out of their homes and crowded the streets, adding that many houses and shops were razed during the misfortune.
Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, the State Finance Minister confirmed that 15 people died in the incident.
Speaking to newsmen, Chinna Rajappa said that the explosion happened around 5:30 a.m. in Nagaram village, which is the company’s connecting station. It said the raging fire lasted for more than three hours before it was put out.
“The extent of damage is being assessed,” Rajappa said.
The cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained as the company officials claimed it was too early to detect, but the Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, however, disclosed that the federal government has already set up a panel to investigate the cause.
