The female suicide bomber who detonated a bomb » in Azare, Bauchi State on Sunday,
November 16, reportedly arrived the scene of the blast with two male companions, one of whom has now been killed. The bomber was reportedly spotted with two men who tried to escape after the explosion but
were caught by an angry mob. One of them was killed while the other is said to be in custody.
A resident, Aliyu Habib told AFP:
“She came in the company of two men and she detonated the explosives concealed under her
dress. I saw at least eight dead. Several other people were injured.” “The two men tried to flee but they were pursued
and apprehended. One of them was lynched to death whereas the other is now in custody,” he
added. Another witness said that shops in the market
had been set on fire by the blast and confirmed that a man who accompanied the bomber had
been killed. Sunday’s bombing is believed to have killed as many as 30 people even though the official casualty figure still stands at 12.
